HELLO, OUR NAME IS fUSION dUO.
fUSION dUO is synonymous with many years of cooperation and an intense friendship, which has borne fruit in the form of numerous concerts, mainly in Poland. The formation participated and received awards in many chamber music competitions, such as the 2nd prize at the International Accordion Competition of Castelfidardo (Italy), the Grand Prix and the Special Prize of the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship at the Festival of Chamber Music Ensembles in Sierpc, the 2nd prize at the International Accordion Music Festival in Przemyśl, the 3rd Prize at the Mława Accordion Music Festival). The duo performs original compositions, its own transcriptions, as well as arrangements of pieces from all periods. Its programme and possibilities are rich, and it also collaborates with other musicians. The expanded ensemble’s possibilities are boundless, while the choice of instruments depends on the type of festival or concert, the venue, as well as the intended audience.
Maja Helbert
FLUTE
Maja graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the flute class of prof. Elżbieta Dastych-Szwarc and also studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse du Lyon in France in the class of Philippe Bernold and Julien Beaudiment. She perfected her skills during master classes conducted by numerous excellent teachers, such as: Julius Baker, Janos Balint, Philippe Bernold, Vanessa Britz- Latzko, Matei Corvin, Sandrine Francois, Barbara Gisler-Haase, Ljubisa Jovanovic, Jerzy Mrozik, Juriyi Shishkin, Elisabeth Weinzierl, Edmund Wachter.
Winner of over 20 prizes at national and international competitions (Grand Prix prizes, special prizes, 1st and 2nd prizes) in Poland, Germany, Ukraine and Italy. She received scholarships from the National Cultural Centre, the Lions Club Warsaw Nike Foundation, Socrates/Erasmus, the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (three times) in recognition of her achievements.
She is a première performer of works by Austrian and Polish composers. Maja has also made recordings world premières of chamber flute music by Johann Wilhelm Gabrielski.
She performed in the play “Amadeusz” in Dramatyczny Theater in Warsaw. In recent years, she has performed with many Polish orchestras. She performed at such venues as Gewanthaus (Leipzig), Konzerthaus (Berlin), as well as at the National Philharmonic, the Polish Radio Concert Studio, the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Royal Łazienki palace in Warsaw, as well as many other concert halls and the largest amphitheatres in the country.
In addition to the work Maja Helbert does in line with her professional education, she is also the author of scripts for a series of children’s concerts. Maja not only performs on stage as a musician, but is also a master of ceremonies. She also has a highly satisfying teaching career.
Malwina Misiak
ACCORDION
Malwina Misiak graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in 2011. She honed her skills during summer music workshops under the guidance of outstanding teachers, such as Matti Rantanen (Finland), Inaki Albergi (Spain), Ivano Battistona (Italy), Yuri Shishkin (Russia), Alexander Dmitriev (Russia) and others.
Her numerous awards and distinctions were given in recognition of both, her work as a soloist and as a chamber musician. She received an award in the TVP competition “Dolina Kreatywna- czyli czego szuka młoda sztuka” (Creative Valley – what young art is searching for). Malwina also received a scholarship from the Centre for the Thought of John Paul II (2009/10, 2010/11). For her artistic achievements she received a Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage twice and a Scholarship of the Prime Minister. She co-authored the musical arrangement for the play “Jesteś Moją Siostrą” (You Are My Sister) performed at the Roma Musical Theatre in Warsaw and currently is an actress in the musical “Once” played at the Roma Theatre. Malwina Misiak has repeatedly pre-premièred contemporary compositions for solo accordion, such as “Jeux d’anches” by Magnus Lindberg or “Dyslokacje na granicach” by Kalina Świątnicka. She has given concerts all over the country, for example at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, at the Wilanów Palace, as well as in Piwnica pod Baranami in Cracow.

About the album
The material contains recordings of compositions by twentieth-century composers. Several compositions are world premieres. All compositions, except for Astor Piazzolla's Tango History, are originally written for flute and accordion.
